Blog Assignment #11 - The End

So we made it to the end, and boy was it a journey. Before this class, I was already a blogger. So I was excited about this assignment. The idea of improving my blogging skills and getting graded for it was awesome. And you would think that it would've given me a bit of an advantage, but there were variables I hadn't counted on.

Let's start with the topics. Every other week I got to choose my own topic, and that was pretty cool for me. Then there were the topics that we were assigned. I didn't think I was going to have an issue with this, but then we got into the food unit, and Oh My God, I did not enjoy it at all.

One thing that I don't generally share with people is my dislike for food. Working in food service off and on for 18 years has caused this in me. Having to kill lobsters is something I've had to do, and don't enjoy. So I tend to only eat when I'm extremely hungry or extremely depressed (but that is a blog post of it's own that will never happen). This made writing about food very hard for me. And when we started watching the videos of food preparation's "negative" behind the scenes, I got sick (mental and physically). I was haunted by the sounds of the animals in the videos, and it made it hard for me to actually service the live lobsters at work. Not to mention, I would go days at a time not eating after watching the videos. Luckily, I have hopefully gotten past it.


All in all, it wasn't a bad assignment; and, it's much better than having to write an extra essay. And this Girl On Fire will continue to blog at my regular spot. It's funny. Some people think that "Girl on Fire" is a Hunger Games reference; after all I mentioned it in the Wall-E post. But it's really not. A Succubus is a sex demon synonymous with fire. Since my main characters in my writing are Succubi (mentioned in my Breaking The Rules post), the image is one that I have become drawn to. And coincidentally, this blog has helped with my creative writing, and I've been inspired to use my personal blog for helping with my character development and such.

So I'm glad I had this experience, and plan on taking it, and everything I've learned from it into the future. Hopefully it will be beneficial in my endeavors.
